ecosocialist.scot<\/a> members have endorsed the following statement calling for the week of 24 February to be made a global week of action against the Russian invasion and for solidarity with Ukraine and added our name to the appeal.\u00a0 The statement was prepared by the European Network for Solidarity with Ukraine<\/a> which represents a wide range of socialist, labour movement and international solidarity organisations across Europe.<\/div>\n

We urge the widest possible support for the statement in Scotland, across the rest of the UK state and internationally.<\/div>\n

Stop the Russian war of aggression! Peace for Ukraine!<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Friday February 24 will mark one year since the Russian army invaded Ukraine on the orders of Putin and his regime. A year of indescribable suffering and bloodshed for the Ukrainian people.<\/p>\n

The completely unjustified invasion has already cost the lives of many tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians and military personnel. Every day the Ukrainian people face brutality and violence. Millions of civilians have been forced to flee abroad, millions are internally displaced.<\/p>\n

Entire towns and villages have been reduced to rubble by Russian bombing and airstrikes. Civilian infrastructure (electricity and heating networks, schools, hospitals, railroads, ports, etc.) is being systematically destroyed, making the country unlivable.<\/p>\n

Putin wants to make an independent and livable Ukraine impossible:<\/p>\n
